CRESTA Release 2013

Release notes

After several years of intensive research and extended discussions with the CRESTA community, we proudly announce the launch of new worldwide CRESTA Zones, available at cresta.org. These major changes in the established standard zoning definition in combination with an update of the ACORD Catastrophe Exposure Reporting Template result in an enhanced and more comprehensive web service sponsored by Munich Re and Swiss Re.

The launch of the new CRESTA Zones on 15 May 2013 is the next step to improving exposure data standards worldwide. We have included more than 40 additional countries and provide a high and a low-resolution version of the CRESTA Zones to fulfil current modelling and risk management requirements. A new key function of the website will allow you to look up CRESTA Zones for your insured risks for any given coordinates in just a few short steps.

What’s new and better?

  • Zones are always based on postal and administrative boundaries by geodata provider GfK GeoMarketing, i.e. the hazard-based schemes have been replaced.
  • More detailed analyses possible thanks to more than 250,000 zones worldwide (compared to 43,000 zones before).
  • Choice of two levels of detail: High-resolution for risk modelling and data exchange, and low-resolution for cumulative risk analyses and reporting.
  • The CRESTA database now contains 49 additional countries, making it the most comprehensive risk mapping tool available online!
  • Use the site to look up the CRESTA zone for any coordinates.
